interpretation
Of Ancient painting and Mythology
I interpreted the paintings with the characters' original mythologies
and mixed the concepts into new pieces.

Diana Bathing
Diana, the goddess of wild animals and the hunt.
In this piece, I focused on elongated silhouettes.
I imagined Diana bathing in her temple. The appearance of both day and night created a surreal and magical vibe. I also added in the elements that represented her as hints... a bow, the moon, and the deer.
Glaucus & Scylla
......But he replied that trees would grow on the ocean floor and seaweed would grow on the highest mountain before he would stop loving Scylla.
In Greek mythology, Glaucus fell in love with nymph Scylla, but she fled onto land.
Glaucus asked Circe, an enchantress, to make Scylla fall in love with him, but Circe fell in love with him instead. Glaucus' refusion angered Circe, so she later poisoned Scylla into a monster.
I focused on the oath of Glaucus in this piece. The trees were growing on the ocean bed, and he was still in love with Scylla. I made the rock that Scylla was standing on look like it was either sculpted into fish or those fish transformed into the rock. Either one was to emphasize her identity as a sea creature. I also put Circe at the bottom of the image to imply her storyline that she was up to something.
Atalanta and Hippomenes
Hippomenes received help from the goddess Aphrodite for which she gave him three apples to slow down Atalanta on the race.
However, there's the darkness behind the romantic story. The skulls represented that countless failed suitors were killed by Atalanta. I applied many curvy geometries in this piece to represent the numerous races she had won. The lion and lioness implied they would later be punished and turn into animals.
